Joshua Chien is a results-driven global executive with more than 25 years of C-suite and board-level leadership across high-tech manufacturing, electronics manufacturing services (EMS), and emerging technology ventures. Most recently serving as Chief Commercial Officer of SMTC Corporation, Joshua led the company’s full commercial transformation — scaling annual revenue from $130M to over $700M in six years through disciplined go-to-market execution, international expansion, and strategic partnership development.
As CCO and prior Senior Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing & Customer Experience at SMTC, Joshua built and scaled high-performance teams across North America, ASEAN, and EMEA. He launched the company’s enterprise-wide ESG program achieving RBA and EcoVadis compliance, established manufacturing partnerships across Malaysia, India, Morocco, and the Middle East, and implemented a comprehensive customer experience (CX) transformation grounded in Lean Six Sigma and Voice of Customer principles.
Prior to SMTC, Joshua held progressive leadership roles at Sanmina Corporation, including Vice President of Global Strategic Business Engagement, where he drove $100M+ in new market revenue, grew the NPI division from $3M to $10M (38% CAGR), and provided M&A due diligence support on $40M+ transactions. He also managed full P&L for a $200M annual revenue factory, co-led a team to win a $150M telecommunications contract, and filed a patent for a Test Automation Algorithm in optical networking.
Joshua brings demonstrated board governance experience, having served as a Member of the Board of Directors and Acting CEO at Aeon Labs | Aeotec, a Z-Wave home automation company, where he provided fiduciary oversight on strategy, capital allocation, and supply chain execution. He is the founder and CEO of DEOWORKS, a non-profit technology platform, and has advised on $50M+ government aerospace projects in Taiwan. He holds a B.A. in Economics from UC Berkeley, completed Finance for Executives at Harvard Business School (2023), and holds a Master of Divinity from Western Seminary.
